A group of 30 students from Dogok Elementary School in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, recently had the opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of meteorology during a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) visit at U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys. Hosted by the 607th Combat Weather Squadron, U.S. Air Force, this educational experience provided the students with a behind-the-scenes look at weather technology and its significance in military operations and everyday life.

Bae Hye-deuk, the chief meteorologist of the weather squadron at Humphreys, emphasized the partnership between the U.S. and Republic of Korea and highlighted the critical role of weather technology in military operations. He shared an anecdote about Admiral Yi Sun-sin, who famously utilized unpredictable weather to defeat the larger Japanese Navy during the Battle of Myeongnyang in 1597.
