Women for WineSense’s Winemaking & Viticulture Roundtable Hosts 9th Annual Festive Bottle Exchange

Napa | Sonoma Chapter of Women for WineSense brings together wine industry professionals for a festive celebration and bottle exchange event.

The Napa | Sonoma chapter of Women for WineSense (WWS) is set to host its 9th Annual Festive Bottle Exchange on December 6th, 2023. This highly anticipated event brings together members of the WWS Winemaking & Viticulture Roundtable for an evening of celebration, networking, and wine. The event will be held at Sterling Vineyards in Calistoga, California, and promises to be a memorable gathering for wine industry professionals.

A Festive Evening of Mingling and Wine Tasting

The Festive Bottle Exchange kicks off with early arrivals gathering at 3:00 p.m. for a chance to reconnect and mingle after a busy harvest season. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a holiday treat as they ride up to the winery in Sterling’s newly renovated tram system. Upon arrival, they will be greeted with a festive sampling of wines, setting the stage for an evening of celebration.

Behind-the-Scenes Production Tour

At 3:30 p.m., Lauren Kopit, the winemaker and WWS member, will lead a behind-the-scenes production tour for the professional winemakers and viticulture guests. The tour will focus on the technical aspects of making Sterling’s portfolio of wines, offering valuable insights and knowledge to the attendees. This exclusive experience provides a unique opportunity to learn from one of the industry’s experts.

Tiered Gift Exchange

The highlight of the evening is the tiered gift exchange of special bottles from each attendee’s collection. The bottle exchange is grouped into progressive retail price tiers, starting at $25 and going up to $100+. This ensures that attendees can exchange similar wines and adds an element of excitement and surprise to the event. Participants are encouraged to bring both a bottle of their wine to share in the exchange and a second bottle as a thank you to the Roundtable hosts.

A Winery with a Rich History

Sterling Vineyards, founded in 1964 by Peter Newton and Michael Stone, is an iconic winery in Napa Valley. Newton and Stone were pioneers in crafting Bordeaux-inspired red wines in California, putting Napa Valley on the map for top-quality wines. The winery is known for its architectural beauty and is the only winery in the world with an aerial gondola, providing visitors with a unique experience. After a temporary closure due to the Glass Fire, Sterling Vineyards underwent a comprehensive renovation and recently reopened its doors with a renewed commitment to sustainability and fire mitigation.

Meet the Winemaker

Lauren Kopit, the winemaker representing the Sterling Winemaking Team, has been working in the wine industry since her graduation from UC Davis in 2009. With 10 harvests under her belt at Sterling, Kopit brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Roundtable event. Her passion for winemaking and dedication to quality are evident in the wines produced by Sterling Vineyards.
