Fort Leonard Wood Hosts H2F Clinic to Promote Holistic Health and Fitness

Experts Gather to Educate Service Members and Families on Healthy Habits

Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri is set to host an H2F (Holistic Health and Fitness) clinic on Saturday at Cunningham Gym. The event aims to provide foundational knowledge about the Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness Program to service members, civilians, and their families. With a focus on healthy eating, sleeping habits, physical fitness, and spiritual wellness, the clinic offers a range of activities and expert guidance for all ages.

Comprehensive Approach to Health and Fitness

The H2F clinic at Fort Leonard Wood takes a comprehensive approach to health and fitness. Alongside the brigade’s master fitness trainers, experts from the Armed Forces Wellness Center, dieticians, and physical therapists from the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital’s Nutrition Care Division will be present. Attendees can receive body composition information, tips for better sleep, stress management, and guidance on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Nutrition Education for a Positive Impact

Sgt. Daphne Weston, a nutrition care specialist at GLWACH’s Nutrition Care Division, emphasizes the importance of nutrition education. Many view nutrition as a daunting subject, but Weston aims to simplify it and highlight its positive impact on overall health and quality of life. The Nutrition Care Division welcomes service members and Tricare beneficiaries to visit them for guidance, without requiring a referral.

Spiritual Fitness for Wholeness

Recognizing the significance of spiritual well-being, the H2F clinic will have two chaplains available to provide guidance and information. Chaplain (Maj.) Scott Norman emphasizes that spiritual fitness is just as important as physical fitness for maximizing one’s potential. To achieve wholeness, individuals must consider their physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional strengths, as each aspect complements the others.

A Family-Friendly Event

The H2F clinic at Fort Leonard Wood encourages the participation of the entire family. Children attending the event will have the opportunity to engage in exercise activities and play a life-size nutrition game. Snacks and prizes will be available, although no childcare services will be provided. The event aims to foster a positive outlook on health and wellness within the Fort Leonard Wood community.

Conclusion:

The H2F clinic at Fort Leonard Wood serves as a valuable platform for service members, civilians, and their families to learn about and engage in holistic health and fitness practices. By addressing the importance of nutrition, sleep, stress management, and spiritual well-being, the event offers a comprehensive approach to overall wellness.
